Week 15
Day 100
Today is our 100th day of travel! We are enjoying this journey and can’t wait to see what the next 100 day brings our way.
Today we enjoyed the balcony at the AirBnb and made eggs for breakfast. We went to the beach and figured out the tram so that we don’t need to walk back up the hill each day.
Day 101
Katie’s birthday was today. We celebrated by having champagne with breakfast. Then we went to the beach and explored old Nice. We ended the day with a delicious meal prepared by Cameron.
Day 102
We went to the beach and finally went all the way in the water. It was chilly but after a while we got use to it and enjoyed being in the water. We watched the sunset from the beach and and headed home to catch the Kavanaugh Hearings. It was a great day before that end bit…
Day 103
Another day of breakfast on out balcony and then walking to the beach and swimming. There is a waterfall that you can see from the beach. We decided to walk up to it. It was a lot of stairs but totally worth it for the views of the beach and the sunset. Sadly the top of the waterfall had closed right before we made it to the top.
Day 104
Today we went to the top near the waterfall first thing. It was gorgeous. We enjoyed the park played some cards and then headed back to the Airbnb to pack.
Day 105
Today was a doozie of a travel day. We started the day early leaving the AirBnb before 9am. We walked to the tram which took us to the train station. We then rode the train to Genoa where we had a flight in the afternoon but first we had to get to the airport.
We got train tickets to the airport (we thought). We rode the train and exited the train at the stop that maps told us to exit. As we exited the station we realized we were not at the airport and we had a “15 minute” walk ahead of us. The 15 minute walk was an adventure with a Y intersection that we chose the wrong direction at but eventually we made it.
Katie’s luggage was searched because of the scale she bought for tracking her weight. But we made it through security and had a lovely wait at the airport ready to go to Catania. We landed in Catania and as we exited to the tarmac realized this airport is tiny.Β This added one more mode of transportation to our travel. A bus to the airport from the tarmac.
We are staying in Catania tonight and then figuring out the bus to Noto tomorrow. We are staying at a bed and breakfast close to the airport. Maps again said it was only a “15 minute” walk, so we started walking. After almost getting run over we made it to a side street away from the main airport street. And then Katie almost got run over by a rat scurrying past us.
We set our bags down at the bed and breakfast we went exploring. We found a pizza place on our walk, so we stopped there for dinner.
Recap of our travels today. Walk to tram to train to train to walk to airplane to bus to walk. Phew! πΆπ»ββοΈππππΆπ»ββοΈβοΈππΆπ»ββοΈ Tomorrow we will figure out the bus to Noto and we will be staying there for the next three weeks. We are definitely ready to unpack these backpacks for awhile!
